Carbon Monoxide? What's that?

Carbon Monoxide, or CO, is a colorless, odorless, toxic gas produced as a by-product of incomplete combustion. CO can be emitted from any malfunctioning gas burning appliances or fireplaces in your home. CHFD recommends all homes have a carbon monoxide alarm installed near where you sleep, so it can wake you if carbon monoxide levels reach an unsafe level.

Signs and symptoms of CO poisoning include light-headedness, confusion, headaches, and vertigo. If you suspect CO poisoning, or if your alam activates, evacuate your home and dial 911.

FEMA Grant Awarded:

CHFD was recently awarded funds from FEMA through their "Assistance to Firefighters Grants" program. The $41,000 will be used to buy replacement structural firefighting gear, helmets, gloves, and boots for Chesterfield's firefighters.
